Vacancy On District Education Council

If you have ever thought about sitting on the District Education Council, now could be your chance.

The Anglophone South School District is looking to fill a vacancy in sub-district 11 – Sussex, Sussex Corner, Apohaqui and Norton – after the member representing the area resigned in August.

Superintendent Zoe Watson told our newsroom people often ask about the time commitments involved.

“Our council does meet monthly in Saint John,” Watson said. “There would always be a fairly significant package of documents and materials that must be read in preparation for the meeting.”

Watson said members also attend Parent School Support Committee meetings and are often invited to visit the schools they represent.

The new member would serve the rest of this four-year term, which ends in June of 2020.

“I think it’s always good on the council to have some members who are experienced and have been on council before,” Watson said, “but then we’re always looking for new people to be involved as well.”

You have until September 21 to apply and the names will be forwarded to the education minister, who will select the person to be appointed.
