A vacant building going up in flames on the lower West side and the blaze has been deemed suspicious.

The city fire department says the fire happened at the intersection of St. James Street West and Ludlow Street in the evening hours and the three-story building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage.

The fire scene is being held and there will be a joint investigation carried out by the fire department investigation team and the police department. We’re told that the police’s Major Crime Unit will be handling the file.
