Vacant North End Building Damaged By Fire

Another boarded up vacant building in Saint John’s north end has been damaged by fire.

Crews were called to the corner of Main Street and Albert Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Barry Oickle, a platoon chief with the Saint John Fire Department, said they found smoke and flames coming from the two-and-a-half-storey building.

Oickle said the building was boarded up, except for one ground-floor window, and there was no power connected to it.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames and no injuries were reported.

Oickle said the fire investigator was called in to determine the cause of the blaze.
