Valley Waters Elects 2 Councillors

Two new councillors have been elected to represent Valley Waters, near Sussex.

A pair of byelections were held in the community on Monday.

Carey Beth Gillis was elected in Ward 2 with nearly 58 per cent of the vote.

In Ward 3, Lindsey Ganong beat her competitor with almost 54 per cent of the vote.

Elections New Brunswick says overall voter turnout for the byelection was around 10 per cent.

The Ward 2 vacancy was created when the Department of Local Government added a councillor position, correcting an error made during the creation of the new entity.

The vacancy in Ward 3 remained following the Nov. 28 elections and the chief elector officer decided to fill that vacancy at the same time.
