A standoff in an apartment building on Sussex Drive ending peacefully with a man in his twenties being taken into custody.
Saint John Police Staff Sergeant Mike King says officers were responding to a call in the complex regarding a man they were looking for and says as a result of the initial call, officers believed he may be armed in the building so the Emergency Tactical Services unit was called in.
King says they did not find any weapons and no was hurt.
The road was blocked off for several hours as the situation unfolded with residents of the street being told they were not allowed back into their homes until things wrapped up. Several commenting that theirs is a quiet neighborhood and they did not expect to see something like this happen.
