A vigil will be held in the legislature tomorrow (this morning) at 7:45am to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.
The murder of 14 young women occured 25 years ago at L’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal – perhaps the worst incidence of violence against women in our nation’s history.
Opposition critic for Women’s Equality Dorothy Shephard says those women were killed because of their gender, and because they were studying in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Premier Gallant, who is also minister responsible for women’s equality, will host the event.
