Volunteer firefighters battle blaze in Grand Bay-Westfield

An off-grid camp in Grand Bay-Westfield has been destroyed by fire.

Firefighters found the structure fully engulfed when they arrived on Robin Hood Lake Road at around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon.

They managed to get the blaze under control quickly, but they remained there for five hours extinguishing hot spots.

One person managed to escape with non-life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word on a cause yet.
