Volunteers Will Help To Make U18 Curling Championship A Success

In order to make this week’s inaugural Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Curling Championships a success, you not only need curlers, you need volunteers as well.

Vice Chair of Volunteers Tamara Nichol says many volunteers work behind the scenes, “From information desk, where things are in the city for people who aren’t from around here, to officials on the ice and those who take care of the ice.”

Middleton says they have around 130 volunteers. Many of them worked prior to the event as well, “Preparing the ice, and planning schedules for the volunteers. There is a crew of about 40 or so. We even have drivers who are picking the teams up from the hotels and bringing them to where they need to be to compete.”

The Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Curling Championships gets underway tomorrow and runs until the 22nd, at Curl Moncton and at the Superior Propane Cente.
