Walk of Life Rescheduled For Saturday

A Saint John fundraiser gets a do-over on Saturday.

The Walk of Life for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab was postponed last week because of Hurricane Dorian.

Steve Mundle of the NB Heart Centre says the walk started 19 years as a way to buy exercise equipment because their patients were it out which is good.

“It’s just grown and now we are able to use that money for equipment and for administrative purposes and for staff education. It’s a huge help.” Mundle said.

The Walk of Life raises between $25,000 and $30,000.

People can walk or run and Mundle says the fit folks can join him on the trek from Market Square to the Reversing Falls lookout and back.

Registration begins at 830 a.m. on Saturday in the Market Square atrium, the walk starts 10 a.m.

Mundle says they get about 100 people who visit through the day with some coming by to get a coffee and make a donation but, the group photo usually has around 75 people.
