Wednesday Morning Sports For July 13th

Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals homered off former teammate Johnny Cueto, now with San Francisco, in the second inning of baseball’s All-Star game. Hosmer added an RBI single and was named the Most Valuable Player. The American League downed the National League 4-2 and will have home field advantage in the World Series.

There was controversy when a member of the Canadian singing quartet, “The Tenors” based in B-C, changed a lyric in “O Canada” and held up a sign proclaiming “All Lives Matter” at the All-Star game. Remegio Pereira unexpectedly sang “We’re all brothers and sisters. All lives matter to the great.” In a statement of apology, three of The Tenors pinned the changes solely on Pereira, adding he won’t perform with The Tenors until further notice and denounced his actions as disrespectful and shameful.

Krysta Schaus of the Fredericton Golf Club won the New Brunswick Women’s Amateur Golf Championship by 9 shots.
