In the Major Midget final, the Saint John Vito’s were shut out by the Moncton Flyers 4-0 to tie up the 8 point series at 4 points each.

In the NHL, Anthony Mantha scored at 4:10 of overtime to give Detroit a 2-1 win over Montreal….Ottawa broke a four game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Boston….Pittsburgh clinched a playoff berth for the 11th straight year with a 3-1 win over Buffalo. Sidney Crosby lost a couple of teeth after being high sticked by Evander Kane…..Jake Allen kept St. Louis in the game until the Blues scored three times in the third period for a 4-2 win over Colorado…….In other play, it was Washington 4 Calgary 2….Vancouver 5 Chicago 4 in overtime……New Jersey over the New York Rangers 3-2 in overtime….Minnesota 3 San Jose 2…..Winnipeg 3 Philadelphia 2……Carolina 4 Florida 3 and Arizona 5 Tampa Bay 3.

In the National Basketball League, Moncton got by the Saint John Riptide 123-122. Anthony Anderson led Saint John scorers with 35 points. Gabe Freeman scored 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

The Grant Odishaw rink from Curl Moncton is tied for the lead at the Canadian Senior Men’s Curling Championship with a record of 4 and 0 after wins over Manitoba, 5-3 and Alberta, 5-4……In women’s play, Kathy Hicks of the Capital Winter Club is 2 and 2 after losing to Ontario 7-4 but then winning over the Yukon 10-2.
