In the NHL, Zach Werenski scored 1:09 into overtime as Columbus got by the Montreal Canadiens 2-1. Sergei Bobrovsky made one big save with his blocker minus his stick and then stopped Montreal captain Max Pacioretty with saves three times in a row……Sidney Crosby ended his goal drought and assisted on Conor Sheary’s game winner 16 seconds into overtime in Pittsburgh’s 5-4 win over Buffalo…..In other play, it was Vancouver 3 Los Angeles 2…..Edmonton 8 Vegas 2 with Connor McDavid scoring two of the goals and adding an assist…..Minnesota 3 Philadelphia 0…..Winnipeg 4 Arizona 1….Nashville 6 Washington 3 and Florida 4 Dallas 3 in a shootout.

In the NBA, Boston won its 13th in a row, 109-102 over Brooklyn…..DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points and the Toronto Raptors held off Houston 129-113 and it was San Antonio 97 Dallas 91.

The Acadia Axemen won the Loney Bowl on the last play of the game, 45-38 over the St. Mary’s Huskies to advance to the Uteck Bowl against the Western Mustangs from Ontario. A judge made the decision over the weekend to allow the Loney Bowl to go ahead after a dispute over player eligibility.

Torey Lovullo of the Arizona Diamondbacks has been named the National League Manager of the Year after leading Arizona to its first playoff appearance since 2011. Former Blue Jay Paul Molitor, who managed the Minnesota Twins to the playoffs, took home the award in the American League.
