Wednesday Morning Sports For September 23rd

New York Yankees legend Yogi Berra has died at the age of 90. Berra was an All-Star 15 times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972.

In the Majors, Greg Bird hit a three run homer in the 10th inning to give the Yankees a 6-4 win over the Blue Jays who now lead the American League East by 2 and a half games.

In the American League West, Texas downed Oakland 8-6 to take a two game lead over Houston as the Astros lose to the Los Angeles Angels 4-3.

In the National League, Jake Arrieta became the first 20 game winner of the season, throwing a 3 hitter as the Chicago Cubs blank Milwaukee 4-0.

In Junior “A” hockey, the St. Stephen County Aces lost to Summerside 6-4.

The Dallas Cowboys acquiring veteran quarterback Matt Cassel from the Buffalo Bills to be the backup to Brandon Wheeden with Tony Romo on the shelf for the next 7 weeks.
