One of the habits I am actually proud of (as opposed to mindless snacking in front of the TV) is starting each morning naming five things I am grateful for in my life. I find it to be such a positive way to start my day. Before I even have time to get ticked off by some Facebook negativity or mired down in my daily “To Do” list, I take a few minutes and just breathe. I list out five things I am grateful for at this moment in time. Sometimes it is something big (results from a relative’s doctor’s appointment) but often it’s just the simple stuff. Stuff that perhaps myself or others would take for granted.
I’m going to share with you things that make my daily list quite frequently.
- fresh bed sheets. Who doesn’t love jumping into a fresh bed at night? Flannel at the moment!
- blue fine point pens. Dunno why but I’m really partial to them. I’d even go ask far as toss another non-fine non-blue right into my garbage can. Serious stuff.
- our cat Cooper James Hamm. He has so many nicknames – Kitty of the Year is one I call him often
- working at the radio and hanging with my “pit crew”. Country 94 listeners, never underestimate how much I enjoy hanging out with you Monday to Friday (3-6 pm). I always say you have to LOVE your job in life – and I truly do. I think you can tell eh?
- my husband, Ray. I got married late in life. People always said “There’s someone for everyone, Krista” and I would reply “Mmmm hmmm“. But they were right. He’s the love of my life!
Why not take 5 minutes right now for yourself? What are YOU grateful for?
