After a couple of weeks of calm weather, a winter storm has its sights set on New Brunswick for the weekend.
Jill Maepea, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said they expect precipitation to move in Saturday evening.
“If you’re in the north, you’re looking at likely some accumulating snow, likely more than 15 centimetres in some places,” she said.
Southern regions, particularly along the Fundy coast, could see 25 millimetres or more of rain, she said.
Maepea said some parts of central New Brunswick, including Moncton and Fredericton, could see some freezing rain.
“Right now, it looks like it should be somewhat brief before it does change over to rain, so we’re not anticipating a lot of freezing rain,” she said.
Wind gusts of up to 70 or 80 kilometres per hour are also expected along the Fundy coast.
Maepea said once the system moves out on Sunday morning, we can expect to see more winter-like temperatures.
