Woman arrested after alleged stabbing in Saint John

A man is in the hospital and a woman has been charged after an alleged stabbing in Saint John’s south end.

Police were called to a reported stabbing in the 90 block of Mecklenburg Street just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In a news release on Friday, investigators said officers located a man injured inside of an apartment.

A 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital, where police said he remains in critical condition as of Friday.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old woman at the scene. Investigators said she is known to the injured man.

The woman appeared in court on Thursday and was charged with aggravated assault.

She remains in custody and is due back in court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.
