Woman charged with drug trafficking in Saint John

A woman on parole has been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in Saint John.

Officers began their investigation a couple of weeks ago and arrested a woman on Thursday.

They seized around $900 worth of cocaine and crack cocaine, along with more than $400 cash.

Officers also found scales, baking soda and a cell phone, they said in a news release on Friday.

A 48-year-old woman is charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.

A warrant of apprehension and suspension for her parole was also issued.

The woman was due to appear in court on Friday and will be returning to the Nova Institution for Women.
