Woman Seriously Injured In Stabbing: Police

Saint John police say a woman has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a Sydney Street residence around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday.

In a news release, police said a 50-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and remained in custody as of late Tuesday evening.

“The accused and victim were known to each other. There is no threat to public safety at this time,” said the news release.

Members of the Major Crime Unit (MCU) and the Family Protection Unit (FPU) continue to investigate.

According to the police force’s website, the FPU investigates crime involving children or families relating to sexual offences, serious domestic violence, stalking, criminal harassment, and child or elder abuse.
