More than 20 years after the tragic death of two year old Jacqueline Brewer in the south end of Saint John, a memorial will soon be completed at Rainbow Park to honour her brief life.
The child and youth advocate for New Brunswick Norm Bosse recalls being shocked at the amount of neglect that Jacqueline suffered and that putting up a memorial is the right thing to do.
Bosse tells us says he always thought “Wouldn’t somebody have noticed this? Somebody? Not the social workers but some family member or some person in the public would not have noticed that Jackie Brewer was completely neglected and died of neglect.”
The Turner Brewer Memorial Garden will be housed within Rainbow Park, and will also honour the short life of 3-year-old John Ryan Turner from Miramichi who died of starvation in 1994. The date for dedication of the garden is September 22.
