Woodstock Police ID Body Found In River

Woodstock police have identified a body found in the Saint John River over the weekend.

Police said a 911 call was received about a body floating in the river near Bulls Creek on Saturday afternoon.

“On Monday, May 16th, 2022, an autopsy was conducted and the deceased person was identified as 22-year-old Shea McKay of Woodstock, NB,” police said in a news release Tuesday morning.

McKay was reported missing to the Woodstock Police Force on April 8.

Extensive searches took place over the past five weeks, including an underwater operation just days after he was reported missing.

Investigators say foul play is not suspected in McKay’s death.

“The Woodstock Police Force would like to thank the public and our partner agencies who provided valued assistance during the course of this investigation,” said the news release.
