Work set to resume on Retail Drive realignment

Get ready for delays and detours near a busy east Saint John intersection starting next week.

Work to realign the Retail Drive and Rothesay Avenue intersection is set to resume on Monday.

The project involves realigning Retail Drive, reconstructing a portion of Ashburn Lake Road and installing new traffic lights.

New water, sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure will also be installed on Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive.

When the work is completed, Retail Drive will line up with Ashburn Lake Road, rather than having two intersections a short distance apart on Rothesay Avenue.

Construction is expected to continue through the end of October, weather permitting, according to the city.

Officials said sections of Rothesay Avenue and Retail Drive will have detours at times during the construction.
