A new working committee has been announced to address the shortcomings in mental health and addiction services in provincial jails highlighted by the Auditor General.
The working committee will be made up of representatives from both the departments of Justice and Public Safety and Health.
They will review each of the recommendations over the course of the next year and a final report will be presented to the departments by June 30, 2019.
Both ministers thank MacPherson for the report and health minister Benoit Bourque says that they feel that these recommendations are very fair.
