WorksafeNB Reveals Lower Assessment Rate for 2020

WorkSafeNB has announced a 9.4 per cent reduction in the 2020 average assessment rate, which will be set at $2.40 per $100 of payroll.

Officials says the drop is thanks in part to a lower number of injury claims this year and the declining cost of new claims.

President and CEO Doug Jones says recent legislative changes based on recommendations from the Auditor General and the Task Force on WorkSafeNB are working as they hoped in reducing the cost of claims.

WorkSafeNB says it wants to keep focusing on improvements so they can achieve a workers’ compensation cost structure that’ll allow for competitive assessment rates for employers and better benefits for injured workers.
