20 Firefighters Responded To Peninsula Brush Fire

A brush fire on the Kingston Peninsula keeping two fire departments busy for a few hours on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened on Route 850 not far from Camp Glenburn.

Firefighters from Kingston and Long Reach got the call to respond around 4 p.m.

The location of the fire was difficult to reach for firefighters and equipments as it was located for down a steep hill.

Peninsula fire department chief Helen Comeau said the woods are very dry right now.

“We encourage residents not to burn at this present time as mandated by the fire ban put on by the province.” Comeau said.

The cause is being investigated by the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development.

Open fires are currently not permitted in New Brunswick under the state of emergency due to COVID-19.
