We’ve heard it before—lock your vehicle—but it appears the message isn’t getting through to some drivers with a whopping 45 reported thefts from vehicles around Killarney Road and Richibucto Road, in the Fredericton area, in recent weeks.
The RCMP are again stressing that you can prevent vehicle theft. Corporal Peter Stubbs says most of these vehicles were parked in people’s driveways and had valuables left inside. The thefts happened in the overnight hours and all of them were from unlocked vehicles.
Stubbs suggests you make it a habit to lock your vehicle doors at night, in the same way you lock your doors when you go to bed.
If you think you’ve been a victim of theft from your vehicle you’re asked to report it to the police and the same goes if you see any suspicious activity.
