$649k To Employ Youth in Rothesay, Quispamsis and Hampton

A pile of money from the Province will help 32 regional employers in the KV and beyond provide 57 jobs.

Premier Gallant was at the KV Oasis Youth Centre in Quispamsis this morning to announce nearly $650 thousand dollars will be invested to create new jobs for Quispamsis, Rothesay and Hampton.

The funding supports several programs including the Youth Employment Fund and the One Job Pledge.

The One Job Pledge offers a one year wage incentive for eligible employers to hire a recent grad in their field of study.

The centre’s executive director Yennah Hurley tells CHSJ News the programs are very helpful for a start up.

She says they are filling a need that wasn’t being met in the valley.

She says they decided they were going to have a centre, a nice warm place where they can learn to cook, invest in an RRSP, play music and games or visit a health care professional. It also has a thrift shop.
