Small Towns Getting A Boost For Canada 150 Celebrations

Small towns in New Brunswick will now be able to get all dressed up for the country’s 150th anniversary.

Premier Brian Gallant making the announcement in St. Stephen today, along with South-west NB MP Karen Ludwig, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, John Ames, and St. Stephen Mayor Allan McEachern. Gallant says the new program will be a lot of fun, help spur economic activity, and enhance the tourism experience in our province.

“Communities of four thousand to twenty-five thousand people are going to be able to apply for a grant from us, of up to $150,000, to beautify and revitalize their downtown areas.”

There are over twenty communities in the province that are eligible for the funding.

Gallant says Canada 150 will be a wonderful opportunity for the tourism sector, with hundreds of thousands from around the world coming to visit Canada for the celebrations.
