A 65-year old man from Pennfield is facing a charge of attempted murder after an investigation by the RCMP.
Last Friday, officers responded to a possible assault at a home in Pennfield, and stopped an attack in progress.
A woman in her late 50s was taken to hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
Brian Harold Smith is charged with one count each of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
His next court appearance is April 27th in Saint John.
