7 Year Anniversary Of The Great Flood Of Charlotte County

It was seven years ago that Charlotte County faced an extreme weather event like no other.

Beginning December 13th, 2010, much of Charlotte County was submerged under 174 mm of rain in just over 24 hours.

The storm caused widespread flooding and forced people from their homes and businesses, prompting municipalities, including St. Stephen, to call a state of emergency.

During the peak of the storm, over 120 roads were either underwater or washed away in Charlotte County.

Some residents in St. George were forced to leave their homes by canoe, and the Boney River area was completely cut off as all roads and bridges were impassable.
