If you live in the Kennebecasis Valley don’t be surprised if a firefighter soon comes knocking at your door asking to have a look at your smoke alarm.
The KV Fire Department has launched its Home Safe program which is made up of voluntary home inspections and door to door smoke alarm campaigns throughout the valley.
Platoon Chief Mike Boyle tells us one of the challenges they face is figuring out how to get fire information out to the public. He says what better way to get fire safety out to someone than a firefighter standing in your home giving you the information you need.
The program only applies to residential homes, which are not subjected to basic fire regulations, and not rental properties or businesses.
To sign up you can call the fire department at (506) 848-6601 or use the contact form on the website.
