The New Brunswick Business Council supports carbon pricing as long as it’s aligned with what they’re doing in other provinces.
Adrienne Dupres of the Business Council says it’s not a question of if there will be a price on carbon but how it will work. She points out greenhouse gas emissions have gone down but that has more to do with a drop in manufacturing capacity because New Brunswick is still a big emitter, per capita, trailing only Alberta and Manitoba.
Joel Richardson of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters says carbon pricing should not be a tax grab to boost government revenue and companies often aren’t sure which clean technologies they should invest in.
