Men are significantly more likely to commit suicide.
That’s why The Movember Foundation is reaching out in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Jesse Hayman, Director of Men’s Health Promotion, says the numbers are actually quite shocking.
“I think the biggest one that stands and you don’t even need to go past it is that three in four suicides are men and that stat hasn’t changed since 1955.”
Hayman says because boys are encouraged to be tough and avoid asking for help, many suffer in silence.
“It is tough to reach out, it is tough to share your emotions not the other way around, and as they get older let’s try to find way to foster and promote social connection so that people are there for them when they need it.”
Movember Foundation has produced a video hoping it will inspire those who are feeling lost to reach out.
