Boxing Day: What’s Open And Closed

Boxing Day sales begin in many provinces Thursday, but not in New Brunswick.

It is a statutory holiday, which means most stores and businesses are closed.

That includes grocery stores, department stores, malls and big-box stores.

Some drug stores are open but not on their regular hours, so you will want to check ahead before going out.

NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores are closed, along with banks, post offices, and all government offices.

Saint John Transit is not operating, and the City Market and all city arenas are closed.

But there is a free Boxing Day skate at the Hilton Belyea and Charles Gorman arenas from 1 to 3 p.m.

Garbage and recycling collection will follow its regular schedule Thursday.
