Powering your home and your vehicle will cost you more starting Friday.
NB Power is raising its rates by around two per cent across the board.
That is the highest amount the utility is allowed to raise rates this year without having to apply to the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board for approval.
Saint John Energy customers will also see a similar increase on their next bill.
An increase in the province’s carbon tax means higher gas and diesel prices.
The carbon tax on gasoline increased by 2.21 cents, from 8.84 cents to 11.05 cents per litre.
For diesel, the carbon tax went from 10.73 cents to 13.41 cents per litre, an increase of 2.68 cents.
Meanwhile, some New Brunswick workers will be making a bit more money starting Friday.
The province’s minimum wage has increased by $1 to $12.75 per hour.
It will increase by another dollar to $13.75 in October.
