Person In Distress On The Kennebecasis River

Reports of a person in distress on the Kennebecasis River prompted a large emergency response on Sunday evening.

Platoon Chief Steve Voutour said the call came in from the area of the Summerville-Millidgeville ferry just after 10 p.m.

Fire crews from Saint John and the Kennebecasis Valley were among those who responded, along with the Canadian Coast Guard. The Peninsula Princess ferry also assisted in the search.

Voutour said the person managed to swim to shore on their own before first responders arrived at the scene.
