Two people face charges in Lincoln shooting

Second-degree murder charges have been laid after a man died of gunshot injuries in Lincoln.

A 47-year-old man from Holmesville and a 21-year-old woman from Rusagonis were arrested on April 22 and appeared in Fredericton court the following day.

They are charged in connection with the roadside incident in March on Route 102.

RCMP says a 27-year-old man was injured due to a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries, but later died.

The man has been identified as Lucas Polchies of Kingsclear First Nation.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit determined his death was a homicide.

Police continue to ask anyone who witnessed the incident, who has information about the incident, or who may have been in the area with dash-cam or other video footage between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on March 12, 2023, to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).
