Fire destroys 1 home, damages 2 others in Musquash

An early morning fire destroyed one home and damaged two others in the community of Musquash.

Musquash Fire Rescue was called to Allen Avenue in the Thompson Subdivision around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters found a house, a shed and a travel trailer heavily involved in flames when they arrived on the scene.

“The fire had already spread to two garages located on each side of the burning structures and was also starting to burn the houses on both sides as well as another shed,” the department said in a news release.

According to fire crews, the original home was destroyed and the two adjacent homes suffered serious damage.

The fire also burned through a power line, leaving most of the subdivision without electricity.

More than 30 firefighters from Musquash, Grand Bay-Westfield, St. George and Blacks Harbour battled the fire.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
