Police seize drugs, handgun, $10K cash

A 21-year-old man is facing charges after Saint John police seized drugs and a handgun.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Brunswick Drive just before 4:30 a.m. last Thursday.

“On arrival, police were alerted to a vehicle parked on someone’s private property,” police said in a news release on Monday.

Officers reportedly found someone sleeping in the passenger seat along with several beer cans in the vehicle.

After detaining the individual, police searched the vehicle and found 269 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1.5 grams of suspected cocaine, 282 grams of suspected cannabis, a handgun, ammunition, and $10,575.91 in Canadian currency.

The suspect was arrested for weapons offences and possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

They later appeared before a judge and were released on an undertaking to return to court in January.
