Rubber boots, umbrellas and possibly snow shovels, you’ll need them all.
Regions including Saint John, St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County, Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley, and Grand Manan, and Coastal Charlotte County are all currently under rainfall warnings.
“That rain will begin this evening, but in terms of changing over to snow, it’s not going to really happen. The freezing rain will happen more in the Kennebecasis Valley area and inland areas. We could have up to six hours of freezing rain overnight and into Thursday morning. The rain will continue for areas right along the coast right through to Thursday evening,” Meteorologist Jill Maepea says.
The freezing rain could cause ice accumulation on trees and infrastructure.
Mapea says rainfall along the coast could be anywhere from 25 to as much as 50 millimetres on Grand Manan.
She adds there is another system coming for Sunday, but they’re uncertain as to what exactly is going to happen.
“That’s typically the case with any systems in March. This is generally a very active month because we’re also going between seasons between winter and spring. So we’re seeing lots of snow or rain or mix. Definitely something we’re watching for later this weekend,” Maepea adds.
