Reservists training in Rockwood Park

Park visitors may notice Army Reservists navigating trails this Friday as part of military training taking place in Rockwood Park.

The exercise will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is part of the Basic Military Qualification course, according to National Defence and the 37 Canadian Brigade Group.

Led by 37 Service Battalion, based in Saint John, New Brunswick and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, the course introduces essential military skills such as navigation and fieldcraft.

No weapons or ammunition will be used, and the park will remain open to the public.

The trainees are mostly part-time members of the Canadian Armed Forces from across New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.

This foundational program prepares members to support communities at home and abroad through continued training and service.
