Nicholas Alwyn Eugene Soppitt

December 10, 1980  –  March 13, 2026

With heavy hearts, the family of Nicholas Alwyn Eugene Soppitt of Saint John announces his unexpected passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 13, 2026. Born December 10, 1980, in Montreal, QC, he was a son of the late Alwyn and Eugenie (Lowe) Soppitt.

Nick’s happiest moments laid with his family and friends when times were simpler back in the day. He lived in Forest Hills for most of his life. He enjoyed friendships and many outdoor adventures with them.

He graduated from Simonds High School and from there joined his Sobeys Family where he spent working for many years in the deli. He loved Music and enjoyed lighting up his home with lights and decor for the holidays. He more than anything loved his dogs Toby, Finn, and Monty. They gave him unconditional love and joy. He also was really good at creating photographic sentiments for people he loved and were no longer with us.

Sending special acknowledgment to his best friend Scott Mitchell, Rob Spencer and to his girlfriend Michelle Sweeney who loved Nick in the last months of his life. To his family who spent many times trying to support Nick when he struggled. He was brave and strong trying to do life as best he could.

He had family around him in life and in death RIP brother, forever in our hearts and forever will be missed. Love you always.

Nick is survived by his sister, Gillian Curren (James); brother, Dennis Soppitt (Dana Nason); niece, Emilie Mowat; nephew, Liam Mowat; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the 3B Intensive Care Unit, especially Dr. John Mowatt, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), where a time of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, between 2 and 4 pm, with prayers said by the priest beginning at 2:30 pm.

For those who wish, remembrances to the SPCA or the Saint John area food banks would be appreciated by the family.
