Jo- anne Elinor Jefferson

March 7, 1953  –  March 17, 2026

Jo-anne Elinor Jefferson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17,2026 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital. Jo-anne was born on March 7,1953 in Saint John, NB to the late John and Elinor Jefferson.

Jo-anne will be dearly missed by her friend and cousin Krista and David McKee, and life long best friend Norah Sullivan – O’Toole (Dave). Jo- anne leaves also her nephews Ross and Jack and sister-in-law Ginny. In addition to her parents Jo-anne is predeceased by her brother Arthur Jefferson and cousin and friend Gioria Pountney (David).

Jo-anne was a woman of many passions and talents. She was a gifted artist who expressed her creativity, through drawing, poetry, and song writing. An exceptional seamstress. making many of her own clothes, and she spent many cherished years sewing alongside Norah. The standing joke was “whoever dies with the most fabric wins” Maybe there is still a chance for Norah Jo.

Jo-anne was also known for her love of animals particularly horses and her Sheltie dogs (Piper, Sawyer, Toby) She lived for dog shows ,her passion. Her active spirit, having enjoyed softball, basketball and even judo.

in her earlier years was instrumental in so many friendships. Jo was an accomplished writer and wrote for the Brunswickan (UNB), a newspaper in Quesnel B.C. and finally the Citizen. Jo-anne was employed for many years with Horizon Health, finishing at Extramural.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John. NB. (506-634-1701). Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22,2026 from 6.00PM – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 23,2026

from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Jo-Anne’s memory can be made to the SPCA, the CAM Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
