Mary Barbara Boucher

December 24, 1941  –  April 1, 2026

It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Barbara (Barb) Boucher on

April 1, 2026. Barb was born in Saint John, NB on December 24, 1941, and was the

daughter of the late Morris L. Donovan and Pearl (Slovitt) Donovan. Barb is survived by

her three children: Don Jr. (Margaret Ann) of Kingston NB, Tim (Maureen) of Saint John

NB and Lori (Nick) of Concord N.H. Barb was the proud and loving Grandmother (Nanny)

of her seven grandchildren Katie, Noah, Evan, Jacob, Hannah, Sam and Sarah. She

cherished her special time with all her children and grandchildren. Barb is also survived

by her sisters Alice (Tiggy) Johnson and Lauren (Joseph Bouchard), and her sisters-in-

law Dianne (Bob Neal) and Rita Boucher, as well as several nieces and nephews. She

was also pre-deceased by her beloved husband Donald (Don) and her three brothers

Arnold (Arnie), William (Bill) and Peter (Pete) Donovan.

For forty years, after completing Teacher’s College, Barb was a schoolteacher in the

Saint John area. Later in her career she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching and a

subsequent Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She also spent many years as a Lifeguard

and Swimming Instructor, as well as the Swimming Director at Camp Glenburn. In more

recent years, Barb was a volunteer for the Loch Lomond Villa Senior Outreach program.

She was also an avid (and most excellent) baker, knitter and quilter – many people have

been the recipient of results of these activities. Many people would also remember her

as a regular walker at the Saint John Field House track. One of her greatest joys was

her many vacations and cruises with her husband Don.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the Nurses and Doctors who

gave such warm and compassionate care to Barb, especially Dr. Mackin and the entire

Palliative Care Team at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The family would also like to

thank Extramural Services for all their help in keeping Barb in her home as long as

possible, especially Elizabeth, Connie and Jeremy.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the

Loch Lomond Villa Senior Outreach Program or to the Saint John Regional Hospital

Foundation in care of the Palliative Care Unit.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home,

111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick. (506 634 7424) Per Barb’s wishes,

there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will be having a celebration

of life in the near future.
