It is with heavy hearts that the family of Linda Diane Atwell (Burrell) announces her passing on Monday, April 6th, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 5th, 1954, in Saint John, New Brunswick, to the late Joseph and Frances (Martin) Atwell.
Linda will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Darrell Burrell of 23 years, cherished son Adam Harkness of Alberta, siblings Joseph Atwell (Susan), Ruth Atwell, Stanley Atwell (Barbara), Kathy Defazio (Gordon) and grandson Cameron Taylor. She also leaves behind her life-long friend Cheryl Bietola, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends, who were touched by her kindness and strength.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, her first husband John Harkness, her beloved daughter April Harkness and brother Norman Atwell.
After graduating, Linda began her career as a financial advisor in Ontario. Later, she chose to care for children in her home, allowing her to be a devoted stay-at-home mom. Linda was deeply involved in her children’s lives, always volunteering, serving on committees and supporting their activities. After returning to New Brunswick, she continued her working life at Coleson Cove and Lepreau.
Linda had a true love for the outdoors and simple pleasures, going for drives (especially trips to Alberta to visit Adam), four‑wheeling, picnics, barbeques, and camping at Stoneybrook. She also enjoyed traveling, with memorable trips to Florida, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Hawaii. Above all, Linda was known for her remarkable strength and resilience, qualities that inspired everyone who knew her and helped her overcome life’s challenges with grace.
She will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, New Brunswick. Visitation being held for close friends and family members on Thursday, April 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
