One dead after collision near Grand Bay-Westfield

One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 near Grand Bay-Westfield.

The crash happened April 13 around 8:30 p.m.

RCMP believe the collision occurred when a vehicle travelling southbound swerved to avoid a moose and crossed into the opposite lane, striking a northbound vehicle head on.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Beaver Dam, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
