It is with great sadness that the family of Ernest ‘Ernie’ Leland MacLean announces his passing on May 7, 2026, at the age of 80, at Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on October 30, 1945, to parents St. Clair and Vivian Maclean, Ernest was known for his hardworking nature and quiet strength. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for 20 years, dedicating himself to his profession throughout his career.
Ernie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing and hunting, and in later years enjoyed playing many games on his tablet. He was also a very talented harmonica player, sharing music and smiles with those around him.
Ernie will be remembered for his independence, his love of the outdoors, and the moments of laughter and music he brought to family and friends.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Elizabeth MacLean (Mark Ayer), his grandchildren, Samantha Burley, Jayden MacLean and Ryan Maclean, his great-grandchildren, Trenton Burley, Paisley MacLean and Lilly MacLean, his friends, Wayne Donaldson and Carl MacLellan and all who knew him.
Ernie was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Elizabeth, his sister, Grace Gagnon and his brothers, Leroy and Ronald MacLean.
In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, there will be no funeral services held.
