Gordon “Gordie” David Carvell

April 19, 1937  –  May 12, 2026

It is with an appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Gordon Carvell of Saint John, cherished husband of the late Barbara (Perry) Carvell, announce his passing, which occurred on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 19, 1937 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Frederick “Gordon” and Madelaine (Christopher) Carvell.

Gordie was a proud farmer and loved working the land. He was skilled at making harnesses and horseshoes and his advice regarding horses was regularly sought after. Gordie was affectionally referred to as the “Mower Man” because he was famous for restoring horse-drawn sickle bar mowers. He will be greatly missed.

Gordie will be lovingly remembered by his children, Christopher Carvell (Chantel) and Lisa Wilson (David); daughter-in-law, Barb; grandchildren, Kevin Jr., David James (Megan Ougler), Willie (Jena), Amelea (Zoe) and Kyle (Dakota); great-grandchildren, Marc, Mariah, Raya, Raven, Lucy, Rylan and Colby; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Kevin; brothers, Hugh (Gail), Robert and Howard and sister, Lois Ellis (Joseph).

Gordie’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The exceptional and compassionate care, guidance and support provided to Gordie and his family during his stay will never be forgotten. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Gordie’s niece, Elaine and his nephews, Mark and Daivd for always being at the family’s side during this difficult time.
