It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Melanson of Saint John, announce his untimely passing, which occurred on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at his home. Born on June 6, 1961 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Dow) Melanson.
Prior to retiring, Mark was employed as a taxi driver with Vet’s Taxi. This was a career that he truly enjoyed and where many friendships were made. Mark loved fast cars and classic rock music. He was a skilled drummer and had many fond memories of playing in local bands over the years. He will be greatly missed.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Brenda (née Melanson) Davidson; niece, Crystal (née Davidson) Barthelot (Phil) and their children, Josh, Braydon (Tori), Brandy, Chantal, Jayden and Mitchel; uncle, Ron Dow; first cousin, Michelle Mazzone (Anthony) of Methuen, Massachusetts and their children, Andrea and Rachel; many other cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as his feline companions, Mookey and Morris. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his great-nephew, Baby Philip Edward Barthelot IV.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM with a Celebration of Mark’s Life immediately beginning at 2:00 PM in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
