With heavy hearts, the family of Phillip Claire MacPhee announce his passing, surrounded by loved ones on May 24, 2026, at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born February 5, 1935 in MacPhee Corner, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ella (nee Parker) MacPhee.
Phil retired from his many years teaching, with his last position through NBCC teaching “shop” to inmates of the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre.
Phil was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and working in his yard. He had a great sense of humour and loved a good joke. Using his carpentry skills he could always be counted on to help friends and family with renovations and woodworking projects. Phil loved road trips, having driven to Newfoundland, Florida, and across Canada several times, managing to find the best spots for his favourite ice-cream treats. Phil will be truly missed by the many friends and family members who loved him.
Phil is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Elizabeth Thorne (MacPhee); his brother, Jeffery MacPhee (Sandra); sisters, Carol Martin and Joyce Holman; sons, Brian (Cathy) of Grande-Digue, Michael (Susan) of Quispamsis, Kevin (Lorna) of Hampton; daughters, Marilyn Kennedy (Larry Doherty) and Melanie Curran (Sonny), both of St. Stephen; grandchildren, great grandchildren;
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Ella MacPhee; his first wife and mother of his children, Margaret; sister, Olive Spacey; brothers, Cecil, Reginald, and George.
The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care, kindness and compassion shown to Phil, his wife and family during his time at Rocmaura Nursing Home.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). There will be no services at this time as per his wishes.
