Susan Diane Martin

August 13, 1958  –  May 27, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Diane (Makepeace) Martin, who passed away on May 27, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends. Susan was born in Saint John on August 13, 1958, to the late Frederick and Barbara (Routledge) Makepeace and was the loving wife of 49 years to her husband, Edward “Eddie” Martin.

Susan worked for 29 years as a Pharmacy Technician with both Grand Bay Pharmacy and then later Port City Pharmacy, where she was such a valued member of the team. Her coworkers were like family to her, and Susan was all about family. Before she went into the work force, she devoted herself to raising her two children and being there for them for everything they needed or could want. Susan wasn’t a woman of hobbies; her family was her hobby. She would drop everything if any one of them called and needed something and was always putting everyone else above herself. She was a wonderful mother, but she was meant to be a grandmother, and as soon as the grandchildren started coming, the light in her eyes got bigger and her heart grew. She loved nothing more than her grandbabies coming over. Susan was such a smart and sharp woman and never forgot anything, especially people’s birthdays, numbers and names of those she met along the way. Susan kept her circle of friends close, building beautiful friendships over the years, and everyone who met her just instantly loved her. She may have been a homebody, but she was well known and loved. She will be so deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Along with her husband, Eddie, she is survived by her two adored children, Tyson (Jena) Martin and Tiffany (Andrew) Hamilton; her beloved grandchildren, Lilah, Jorja, Gage and Wesley and great granddaughter, Emerie; as well as her brother, Wayne Makepeace and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents.

Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (506-634-1701). A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Oak Point on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11am. A Celebration of Life reception will follow the service at Legion Branch 87 where everyone is welcome to come and help remember all the good times with Susan. A private interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations made in Susan’s memory to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
